Creation and Evolution: Is there a Conflict?

There is no conflict between special creation and micro evolution.   Micro evolution is simply changes within species.   Micro evolution is observable today.

Children are not identical to their parents.  “No one doubts that descent with modification occurs in the course of normal biological reproduction.   The question is whether descent with modification accounts for the origin of new species - in fact, of every species.” [1]

The conflict is between special creation and macro evolution.  Special creation follows the biblical Genesis account whereby God created separately each kind of physical life on earth during days three, five and six of creation week.   Macro evolution is “the idea that all forms of life developed gradually from very different and often much simpler ancestors, and that all lines of their descent can be traced back to a common ancestral organism.” [2]  For simplicity, macro evolution in this website will be referred to as evolution.

Evolution: Falsified?

For an idea to be a valid scientific theory, it must have the capability of being proven false.  This concept is called falsifiability or refutability.  Charles Darwin in Chapter 9 of “The Origin of Species” proposed a test of his theory of evolution through natural selection when he stated:

Origin of Life 

In  common usage, a miracle is often used to describe highly improbable events such as the “Miracle on the Hudson” when a commercial airliner safely ditched on the Hudson River and all 155 people onboard were saved, the “Miracle on Ice” when the 1980 US hockey team beat the Russians for the gold medal, survival against all odds in the wilderness, and winning the state lottery.   The source of these kinds of miracles can be attributed to skill or chance or both. There is also the possibility that God intervened in some way. In cases of the sudden disappearance of cancer tumors without treatment, the disappearance may be attributed to unknown causes or an act of God.  more

Carbon-14 versus the conventional  geologic time scale

Carbon-14, a quantitatively rare and seemingly insignificant radioactive atom in nature, provides an important key to dating many historical events even the Genesis Flood. With the introduction of ultrasensitive AMS isotope testing in the 1980s, carbon-14 has revealed serious anomalies in the conventional geological time scale pointing to a much younger earth only thousands not millions or billions of years old.  more

Dinosaur Extinction

When did dinosaurs become extinct? Sounds like a simple straight forwarded question, but today some believe that birds are descended from dinosaurs or that dinosaurs were types of birds. So based on these beliefs dinosaurs could still exist even though there is little to no clear, unambiguous evidence to support this bird theory. Also, today many old earth advocates claim that the last of all large dinosaur species went extinct during a Cretaceous–Paleogene (K–Pg) extinction event about 65 million years ago (Ma). Although few would question whether large terrestrial dinosaurs such as T-Rex are extinct, this 65 Ma estimate is not based on verifiable scientific evidence but an unproven set of assumptions. Good science is based on evidence not assumptions. more

Recent dating of the Paluxy River dinosaur tracks

challenges the geologic time scale

 Many sauropod and tridactyl tracks and their trackways have been found in the limestone bed of the Paluxy River near the town of Glen Rose, Texas. These tracks and trackways were left as the dinosaurs traveled through lime mud that hardened to become part of the limestone in what has been named the Glen Rose Formation. This formation extends over a large area of central Texas and varies in thickness being about 229 feet at the Paluxy River near Glen Rose. more

Flight Feathers

How flight feathers evolved has long been a problem for evolutionists.   The current popular    theory is that feathers evolved from a theropod dinosaur or “a shared common ancestor deeper  in the past.” [8]   This is often stated in the media, taught in schools, [9]   and highlighted in museums but this theory has many problems. Today, only birds have feathers; however, this may not have been the case in the past.   more
